Floral ice cubes are such a treat to add to your water, carbonated beverages, mocktails, cocktails, iced coffee and tea or any drink you can think of.
You can use almost any combination of fruits and culinary flowers and herbs.
There are several tips out there to try to get your ice cubes as clear as you can. The clearer the ice the more detail of your ice you can see. Here are a few that I found. Use filtered water, boil your water first and let cool before pouring into ice cubes, and the last use hot water and pour over your choice of additions. I used the boil your water, fill your trays and place in freezer.
We chose to use lavender, mint and lemon strips for one and lemon, blueberry, lavender for another version.
Most frozen fruits will sink and most fresh items added will float, but this adds the variety you may desire in your ice cubes. Freeze until frozen but if it is left to long in the freezer they can discolor some florals. So the best recommendation is to use them up quickly.
Lay your Lavender Cocktail Picks in mold and pour water over top.
We made half of these ice cubes with Lavender, lemon triangle and blueberries and the other half with Lemon peel curls, mint and lavender.
We liked the lavender cubes that had the lavender at the top of the cube. We had pressed one down but it doesn't look as nice. The thin cubes melt very fast but that isn't bad...you've got your adorable little lavender stem floating in your drink.
For photos our water sat in the trays. You will want to put the in the freezer right away or it blueberries can turn your cubes a little purple. That's ok...we still like them and they added nice color in our lavender lemonade.

If you are making ice cubes for a party you can use your ice mold of choice. When the are ice cubes are frozen (about 4 hours) remove them from mold and stick them 1 layer thick in a sealed container. Work fast so they don't melt.
I am Nicole Callen, lavender lover, farmer, and owner of Norwood Lavender Farm. My intention for this page is to bring you great lavender related content that you can use. Most of it contains culinary adventures that transpire in my kitchen, as I have a love for the complex floral flavor and depth that lavender brings to cooking.
