What makes our farm fresh Culinary Lavender extra ordinary and premium grade? The time that we take to harvest the lavender just at the peak of perfection. In season we only cut the lavender stems that are at the ripe stage. Just like a berry bush where you have various ripeness of fruit. Lavender is similar to a berry bush so instead of harvesting the whole plant we hand select the lavender stems that are ripe for harvesting. Once selection and cutting has occurred they get hung in bundles to air dry for two weeks. Then taken down and placed in airtight storage containers until we package them into food grade packaging. Lavender is known to deter bugs and draw beneficial insects so although we are not officially certified as a Organic farm although we take pride in growing everything on the farm organically, without use of pesticides, herbicides or chemicals. As a small farm we take pride in harvesting, drying, and debuding our lavender by hand on our small family run farm in Oregon, USA. This helps us insure that you are getting product that is at peak freshness. Lavender can be used for more than tea try our culinary lavender in place of rosemary in your cooking, grilling or baking. Tastes fantastic in dressings, cookies, lemonade, desserts, rubs, garnishing, and on its on as a tea or use as a garnish. So versatile in both savory or sweet dishes.

What is the story behind the popular Moscow Mule? It is thought to have begun in 1939 when John Martin, wanted to promote vodka to bars across the US and fuel the mainstream acceptance of his vodka as the preferred white spirit, replacing gin and Whisky. John met and became friends with Jack Morgan, owner of a pub located on Hollywood’s Sunset Strip. Jack had a house brand of ginger beer bottled in stoneware crocks who also wanted to grow the popularity of his ginger beer. Together they came up with a cocktail that combined their respective products. So where does the copper mug fit into this? John was known to have a girlfriend who's father had a copper business in Russia who made them their personalized copper mugs that served this new drink. So why the copper mug? The most scientific benefit of using copper mugs is the temperature. The copper cups offer an extra-cool sensation, due to the metal quickly taking on the icy temperature of the cocktail. The rim of the mug becomes chilled almost instantly, offering a frozen sensation on your lips. There is also some indication that using copper mugs enhances the individual flavors of the ginger beer, vodka, and lime. Some experts say that when vodka touches the walls of the mug, the copper begins to oxidize, slightly boosting the aroma, and enhancing the taste of the vodka. Cold copper also has a tendency to increase the amount of bubbles in the carbonated ginger beer, bringing maximum fizziness to the Moscow Mule. Today Moscow Mules have made a resurgent push in the last couples of years but continue to use the base recipe of vodka, ginger beer and lime but adding a new twist of flavors. This is where our recipe comes in with the simple addition of our lavender simple syrup to add the unique flavor addition to an old favorite.
