Do you love gardening? Here is a chance to spend more time submersed in flowers, nature, and gardens.
Have you ever wanted to gain the practical skills of organic farming through daily participation in farm tasks? Here is an opportunity to learn what it is like - from planting to harvest, marketing through sales at our farm stand, and running a small CSA-styled program.
You will learn all aspects of organic production practices. In May and early June, the focus is on planting the gardens. We work on preparing the soil for planting, direct seeding and transplanting, companion planting, planning for succession planting, and using organic amendments.
Lavender harvest season begins in mid June and extends through July and many hands are needed for cutting and hanging lavender, and weed management. Maybe your hands don't want to be dirty, but you're interested in learning how to make soaps, lotions, and other healthful beauty products that we make on our farm and market to the community and on-line sales.
August, September, and October continues with more gardening aspects: harvesting of vegetables, seed saving, storage of vegetables, storing of lavender bunches, and finishes with pruning lavender for winter, and final clean-up of the gardens.
Here at Norwood Farm we are busy, so we ask that only the serious apply. There are Mentorship Program times slots available on Fridays and/or Saturdays from 8am-11am or by scheduled appointment.
