Lavender Oatmeal All-Purpose Cleaner

Ingredients:
  • 1 bar of lavender oatmeal soap or lavender comfrey soap
  • 2 cups of warm water
  • 10-15 drops of lavender essential oil
  • 1 tablespoon of white vinegar (optional, for extra disinfecting power)
  • A spray bottle

Instructions:
  1. Grate the Soap: Grate or cut the lavender oatmeal soap into small pieces to help it dissolve more easily in water.
  2. Dissolve the Soap: In a bowl or large jar, combine the grated soap with 2 cups of warm water. Stir until the soap is fully dissolved.
  3. Add Lavender Essential Oil: Add 10-15 drops of lavender essential oil for extra fragrance and cleaning power.
  4. Optional - Add Vinegar: If you want an extra boost for cleaning and disinfecting, add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar. It helps cut through grease and grime.
  5. Transfer to Spray Bottle: Pour the mixture into a clean spray bottle, shake well to combine, and you’re ready to use!
Usage:
  • Countertops: Spray directly on countertops, wipe down with a clean cloth.
  • Floors: Lightly mist the solution on floors (avoid over-wetting), then wipe with a mop.
  • Bathroom Surfaces: Spray on sinks, tubs, and toilets, then wipe clean.
This solution is safe, natural, and perfect for daily cleaning with the soothing scent of lavender!

Happy Cleaning!

Nothing like making your guests feel welcome with a fun guest bathroom makeover. Try this towel folded over and add a mini bouquet of dried lavender. Just adds that special touch.

Add a cute wood bathroom tray with some fun lavender products to solve your guests issues and make them feel comfortable and relaxed. You know how sometimes you don't sleep very well when not in your own bed? Combat that with lavender sleep spray. Another issue...Ummm...you know how you hate to go to the bathroom at someone else's house and leave unpleasant scent lingering. Use Lavender room spray to keep the odors eliminated. We also like to put out a new bar of lavender oatmeal soap perfect for those who have sensitive skin. Lavender lotion perfect for dry winter months where  your skin is more dry and itchy. We add a little lavender essential oil that our guests can use if they have a headache or stomach issues. In addition we add a little lavender perfume oil, because it simply makes one feel pampered.

What is lavender hydrosol? What is it good for and how do you use it? These are the topics covered in this post today.

The Benefits of Lavender Hydrosol
What is is hyrdrosol?
Hydrosol is the floral water created from making essential oil. This process is called, steam distillation. Steam heats and passes through the plant material and the result is floral water and essential oil. The essential oil gets extracted from the waters surface and the water left over is the infusion of the plant material. The floral water smells similar to the essential oil but much softer in fragrance and in addition has the water soluble constituents of the plant material which can give it a very slight greener note.

Benefits of lavender hydrosol
The benefits of hydrosol is they carry same properties of the essential oil being a natural antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. Making them a safe and gentle way to treat those with sensitive skin or sensitivity to fragrances.

How does it help your skin
It can naturally hydrate your skin, soothe inflammation, help repair and regenerate a balance to your skin. Helps replenish lost moisture. Its a natural and safe skin toner and better as many times toners have alcohol which can irritate sensitive skin. This makes it especially important to aging skin that naturally loses moisture due to age and environment.

But let me share other ways this amazing hydrosol can be used;
After shower mist for your body to help it retain the moisture.
Diffuse offensive odors by spraying down after a workout
Use for insect bites helps ease discomforting itching and inflamed skin.
Room or car freshener
Linen spray- spray your sheets and towels as they come out of the dryer.
Stress relief spray helps to relax in difficult situations.
Natural bug repellent
Skin toner
Sunburn spray
Natural perfume
Diaper rash spray
Replenish skin with moisture
Even scares monsters away for kids

Here are three products made from lavender hydrosol. Face and Body Spray to use as toner, on rashes, burns and sensitive areas can also be used as bug repellent. Lavender sleep spray for pillows, bedding along with clothing. Lavender Room spray to help with offensive odors and fabrics such as furniture, floors and overall room spray. Lavender essential oil is the oil that is extracted from the top of the floral water. Lavender essential oil roller ball is an infusion of coconut oil and lavender essential oil.

Decorating a Fall Tablescape

10/9/2020

I mostly share with you lavender recipes, but today I wanted to share a tablescape for your Fall decor. You may have heard me say, "a cocktail is hardly a cocktail without a little  bling" (garnishes). I feel table decor much the same, you need a little spirit of the season to set the mood or tone for the dinner you have created.

I am no means a florist, but the nice thing about lavender is it looks absolutely gorgeous stuffed into a vase, a jar or even a wood bowl or tray. So for you non florist bouquet people you can purchase some wheat, cat tails and green stemmed leaves like eucalyptus and your local grocery store. Paired together and placed into a hollowed out pumpkin sets a beautiful display for fall, halloween or Thanksgiving dinner.

No need to think to hard about it, the general rule is to have odd number of items is more pleasing to the eye. So if your adding eucalyptus just count and add an odd number of them. I don't know why that is, but see it for yourself.

Feel free to share our tablescape pictures and idea, but please make sure to tag us @norwoodlavenderfarm or give photo credit.
