Do you remember your grandmother making compound butter? What is compound butter you ask? It  it is a mixture of butter and supplementary ingredients that are used to enhance the flavor of butter and used on various dishes. I remember many holiday meals with my grandmother, mom and aunts busy in the kitchen preparing piping hot mashed potatoes, flavored fruit salads and roasted turkeys, hams and green bean casserole. Occasionally if time prevailed there would be compound butter ready for the hot buns straight from the oven.

Well traditions wain and we find resurgence as memories of our childhood come back to us and we find that our children our now watching, me, my sister and mom in the kitchen. My grandmothers have now passed on, but I look forward to passing on this delicious new compound butter recipe. I know my grandmother would approve and believe she would be smiling down on me as I pass on the sweet legacy of a simple compound butter.

We've included other ways to use this delightful recipe and we hope you will enjoy it with your family and friends! It adds a savory flavor with a touch of sweetness to your recipes.
